Hu Sun - S.P.I's Award-Winning Design Emphasizes Low Intervention and Resilient Design

The Agile View World is nestled in a site covering an area of 16,860.7 square meters, surrounded by water on three sides and mountains on all sides. The well-growing surrounding forest belts and the site's advantageous location against Gaoligong Mountain offer broad vision and abundant landscape resources. The design team, comprising Hu Sun, Xiaochen Ma, Chao Sun, and Kaigong Du, successfully incorporated these natural elements into the design, creating a space that is in tune with nature.

The design inspiration came from the client's desire to create a shelter that was closely related to nature. The designers hoped to reconsider the relations among human, place, and nature while satisfying the client's intention. The result is a design that recovers the mountain essence and offers a pure and simple lifestyle. The design uses local materials, plants, and techniques, emphasizing deep respect for the mountains and plains where the site is located with quiet and restrained language and low intervention.

The project started in April 2019 and was completed in October 2020. During this period, the design team faced two significant challenges: matching the living experience of the exhibition area with the mountain essence of the site and dealing with the relationship between the site and nature. The unique architectural style outlined the site, and the designers used a low intervention strategy and resilient design to protect the original site, ensuring that the design did not destroy the natural beauty of the location.

The Agile View World has been recognized for its innovative design and respect for nature. It was awarded Platinum in A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, contribute to societal wellbeing, and advance the boundaries of art, science, design, and technology.
